Bangladesh Australia Disaster Relief Committee AGM held

Bangladesh Australia Disaster Relief Committee AGM held "Bangladesh Australia Disaster Relief Committee (BADRC) held its AGM on 20th October 2019. Many respected Bangladeshi community members were present in the meeting.  The President Dr Maksudul Bari and the Secretary Mr Afsar Ahmed presented their reports which illustrated the recent activities of BADRC. The treasurer Mr Mosharraf Hossain presented the financial reports for 2017-18 and 2018-19 and the reports were accepted.   

Then the existing committee was dissolved by the President and the nominated Election Commissioner Dr Abdul Wahab conducted the election. The following Committee was elected for two years:    1 President: Dr Wali Ul Islam 2 Vice-President: Mr Azadul Alam 3 General Secretary: Mr Afsar Ahmed 4 Joint-Secretary: Mr Nirmalya Talukder 5 Treasurer: Mr Mosharraf Hossain 6 Public Relations Secretary: Dr Syed Faojul Azim 7 Members: Mr Md Rahmat Ullah Dr Maksudul Bari Dr A Wahab (co-opted) Mr Hayat Mahmud Mr Muhammad Kamrul Islam   It is also pertinent to note that BADRC is a Bangladeshi community and charity organisation operating since 1998 in Australia and Bangladesh, mainly focusing on disaster relief.

During the last two years (2017-19) BADRC received donation of nearly $65,000. Some of the major activities undertaken by BADRC during last two years are: $4000 to set up Computer Training facilities, $20,000 to Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar, $25,000 for Cancer Hospital funding and Poriborton Chai , $5,000 to Ahsania Cancer Hospital , $2,520 to Dhup Foundation,$6,325 for the treatment of two Bangladeshi cancer patients.
